    Default My Favorite Fish

Not rainbows, not cutthroat, not brookies, not brown trout, not largemouth, not spotted bass, not roosters, not bluegill, not steelhead, not salmon, not taimen, not dorado, not bull trout, not dollies, not whitefish, not grayling, not bonefish, not carp, not shad, not pike, not permit, not tarpon, not jacks, not trevally, not crappie, not redfish, not pikeminnow and not stripers but they are a close second.

Smallmouth bass are my favorite but only if the get big. Like 20" big. Not 10" big like on the Mokulemne. If there is a decent chance for a 20"+ smallmouth I am all in. All in. Especially if there are no other dudes around and the smallies are super grabby and up in the shallows on the attack and blowing up the topwater bugs. All in. All Freaking In. That is my thinking today. Here are a few pictures of my favorite fish and a few other things that happend in Canada the first half of June.

This is the best freshwater kayak fishing channel on YouTube.

He lives in Fargo, North Dakota, and drives East.

Many of the top fly fishers like Smallmouth bass as their favorite freshwater fish.

I like SMB in moving water with top water flies.

John has been going for years to the Boundary Waters for canoe camping in God's country.

Andy and I would have loved to have gone but it never happened.

Thanks John for another amazing post and great photos.

Doc Cedar used to talk a lot about how much he liked small mouth fishing as he grew up in that area.
Once when he was living here he even brought me a few pieces of fried small mouth from one he caught at Berryessa. Always saying it was so much better than large mouth or any other bass.

I have to admit it was good, but I don't know if it will ever top striped bass
