I am a sucker for traditional salmon flies and in preparation for this Fall's king salmon run on the American I decided to put this fly together with some materials I had laying around:
7558

Anyone have any other patterns to share for Fall chinook?

Good looking fly. Actually Kinda looks like a chartreuse Lady Caroline Steelhead pattern. Your fly looks too good to destroy it on a Salmon. ;)

Operating on the KISS principal, my own preference for Kings is your basic brown hackle, black boss with a silver rib or a gold, silver, blue or green comet type pattern. All of these are heavily weighted for fishing in deep holes and runs in rivers casting from a boat. Places where the flies I've used are typically lighter are in coastal estuaries, the lower Eel River around Fern Bridge or in the lower end of the Smith River but even there it's important to get the fly down most of the time.
