Going to Trinity for Steelhead

I'll be going up to the Trinity either late this week or early next week. I was going to fish off of Steiner Flat Rd. But now, I'm wondering if I need to go further down river to better my chances for Steel.

Are there many fish upriver (Steiner Flat area) yet? I've heard that they are a little behind schedule(?). Or am I better off going to Junction City or even further downstream?

I don't know about Steiner Flat or JC, but there were a lot of fish in the Hawkins Bar/ Denny Road area. Looking off the bridge there I saw about 25.

Fish count at the weir is supposedly 20% of what it was last year at same time, so don't build your hopes up too much.

Lower river probably best shot.
